So You Are Going To Call A Pest Management Professional

Whether you have an active infestation of ants, mice, or are looking to prevent pests, you have decided to call an exterminator.  Good.  So, what should you do?

Make sure the person you call is a licensed professional.   In many states this involves a simple search on your state’s Department of Agriculture website.   You can search for company licensing information there.

You can, in many states, also search there to see if the company(ies) have had any serious violations as well.

When calling around to find companies to give you an estimate make sure you ask about their insurance.

Alright, so after you have done your legwork and set up an appointment (I encourage you to get multiple inspections and estimates), and the fateful day arrives, a technician or sales inspector should arrive and give your home a top to bottom inspection identifying any current infestations and conditions which are favorable for future infestation(s).

The technician or sales inspector should give you a price for the initial service and a price for how much the ongoing pest control service will cost.   Do not go with the low ball price.  You get what you pay for.
